YOUNG READERS * YOUNG WRITERS

6-Week Reading & Writing Challenge

READ IT. DREAM IT. WRITE IT. SHARE IT.

Do you love to read?

Have you ever imagined writing your own story?

Maybe you have an adventure in your imagination, a funny character you've invented, a poem in your heart, or a story you've always wanted to tell.

Now is your chance!

Young Readers * Young Writers is inviting children ages 4–12 to join our first 6-Week Reading & Writing Challenge!

Inspired by young author McKenna Smith, who became a published author at just seven years old, this challenge was created to encourage children to discover the joy of reading, use their imaginations, and realize that they don't have to wait until they're grown to pursue a big dream.

THE CHALLENGE

Over six weeks, participants will:

📚 READ books they enjoy.

💭 DREAM up characters, adventures, poems and ideas of their own.

✏️ WRITE an original story, poem, devotional or encouraging piece.

>  SHARE their finished creation with Young Readers * Young Writers.

Every child who completes the challenge can receive a Young Readers * Young Writers Certificate of Completion.

And there's something else exciting...

YOUR WRITING COULD GO EVEN FARTHER!

With parent or guardian permission, selected submissions may be featured through Young Readers * Young Writers or considered for inclusion in a future collection of writings created by kids, for kids!

Selection is not guaranteed. Our biggest goal is much more important:

We want children to discover that their ideas matter, their creativity is worth developing, and they can begin pursuing their dreams right now.

A MESSAGE FROM McKENNA

"I want other kids to know that reading is fun and that you don't have to wait until you're a grown-up to do something important. If you have a story in your imagination, write it down! Your story could be the one someone else needs to read."

ARE YOU READY?

Pick up a book.

Grab a pencil.

Open your imagination.

And join us!
