Hi, I’m Leora, a certified Texas elementary school teacher with 18 years of experience in early childhood education, curriculum development, and staff training. My journey began in the classroom, but year after year, I saw so many of my students struggling to read, and I knew the gap in kindergarten readiness was holding them back. I decided to make a change.

I left the classroom and opened a family childcare center with the goal of giving children the strong foundation they needed to succeed in school and beyond. The impact was immediate. By the next year, I had a waiting list, so I expanded and opened a larger childcare center. Within a year, my center achieved a four-star rating, a reflection of the high-quality care and education we provided.

But as much as I loved the success, it wasn’t the same as running my family childcare. The smaller group sizes, the personal connections, and the nurturing, intimate setting are the key ingredients to truly ensuring children are ready for kindergarten. After COVID-19, I returned to my roots and reopened my family home childcare, and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made.

I deeply believe that family childcare homes offer something unique—an experience that larger centers simply can’t replicate. They provide children with a nurturing environment and a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience.

Through trial, error, and experience, I discovered how quality lesson planning transformed my business and my life. What used to feel like an overwhelming 7 AM to 7 PM grind turned into a smooth 9 AM to 4 PM schedule, Monday through Thursday, with summers and holidays off. I wasn’t just reclaiming my time—I was giving children an even better start by focusing on what truly matters.

Now, I’m on a mission to help other family childcare providers do the same. I want to share how lesson planning can save time, reduce stress, and ensure children are kindergarten-ready while helping providers reclaim their time and their joy.
