Juicy Oven-Bakes Chicken Gyros (Better Than Takeout)

Juicy, oven-baked chicken gyros loaded with a fresh, crunchy Greek salad on top. It’s bright, flavorful, and honestly tastes like something you’d get from a really good gyro spot—without leaving your house.

Quick Info:

  • Prep time: 15 minutes
  • Cook time: 20–25 minutes
  • Serves: 3–4
  • Method: Oven

🥙 Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 2 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 7 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

For the Greek salad topping:

  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped cucumber
  • ¼ cup thin sliced red onion
  • ¼ cup feta cheese
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1–2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Salt + pepper

Optional (traditional but skip if you don’t like them):

  • Kalamata olives

🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F
  2. In a bowl, mix chicken, garlic, spices, salt, pepper, and olive oil
  3. Spread onto a lined sheet pan (or shape into logs)
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cooked through
  5. Broil 2–3 minutes for crispy edges
  6. While that cooks, mix all Greek salad ingredients in a bowl
  7. Warm pita
  8. Fill with chicken, top with Greek salad, and finish with tzatziki

💡 Make It Taste Like a Real Gyro Spot

  • Let the salad sit for 5–10 minutes before serving (the vinegar + salt bring everything together)
  • Slice the chicken thin or break it up for better texture
  • Don’t skip the red wine vinegar—it’s what gives that real Greek flavor
