A wise man once said, “A person's plugins are a window to their soul.” Your preferences say a lot about you. Some people prefer the shiny, sleek designs that replicate real life analogue gear. Some prefer one knob plugins like the goat Sausage Fattener (I don't use it but I assume it's goated.) Other's prefer to get their hands dirty with the ugliest clunky spaceship looking plugins from the 90s.
I myself am a combination between a one knob and an analogue emulation as my favorite plugin looks like this.
But of course having too many plugins can slow down your workflow. It won't just slow your computer down, but it can slow you down mentally… There's this concept called choice paralysis. A person picking between an orange and an apple will have a much easier time than a person picking between an orange, apple, grape, banana, pear, and a watermelon. That same concept applies to everything in life, when you set too much goals for yourself in a day; you get paralyzed. You also get paralyzed by the dozens of Youtube Tabs that you will never watch. That same concept applies with plugins. Don't be stressed over picking between the Focusrite Red 3 and the Rough Rider. Save yourself the brainpower and only get plugins that you know will either do something different, or do something faster.
