Prep time: 20 min (+ marinating) | Cook time: 15-20 min | Serves: 4
Ingredients
For the pork:
- 500g fresh pork loin steaks, boneless (Lidl vepřové plátky bez kosti)
- Juice of 1 lemon (citron)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (česnek)
- 2 tsp paprika (paprika)
- 2 tsp ground cumin (mletý římský kmín)
- Salt (sůl) and pepper (pepř) to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil (olivový olej)
- 1 white onion, chopped (bílá cibule)
- 1 red pepper, chopped (červená paprika)
For the wrap:
- 4 wraps (Lidl proteinové wrapy, 320g pack of 8, use 4)
- 1 head romaine lettuce (římský salát), sliced thin
- Splash of white vinegar (bílý ocet), for washing lettuce
Instructions
- Cut the pork into thin strips. Mix with lemon juice, garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and oil. Marinate 15-30 minutes (no longer, or the lemon will dry it out).
- Wash the lettuce: slice the romaine into thin strips, then rinse in a bowl with a splash of white vinegar and water. Drain well and pat completely dry.
- Heat a pan on high with a little oil. Sear the pork in batches (don't overcrowd) 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through, no pink left inside.
- Add the extra flavor: Put the pork aside, add the chopped onion and red pepper to the pan, and cook 2-3 minutes until soft.
- Mix everything together in the pan, add a splash of water, and let it simmer 1-2 minutes to bring the flavors together.
- Let the pork cool.
- Assemble your wrap: Lay the dried lettuce on each wrap first, then divide the pork mixture evenly across the 4 wraps, and roll tightly. Optional: wrap in foil or plastic wrap.
Notes
- Assemble the night before or morning of, great on your way to class with only 15 minutes to eat.
- Keep pork and lettuce in separate containers, then combine right before eating for max crunch.
- No soy sauce needed, the lemon, garlic, and spices carry the flavor.
- Add salt as needed.
- Makes 4 wraps, you'll have 4 protein wraps left in the pack for next time.
That's it, practical, fulfilling, and done.
