For several days, anxiety comes uninvited.
Nothing special has happened.
But my body is already tense. My thoughts have vanished. There's less air.
At such moments, I don't try to "fix myself."
I simply return to my body. Slowly. Almost piece by piece.
Here are three things I most often return to.
1. Touch something real
Find something physical near you.
A mug. A table. Your sweater. A stone in your pocket.
Hold it.
Notice the temperature. The texture. The weight.
It sounds too simple, almost silly…
but anxiety lives in my head.
And touch brings you back to “here.”
Sometimes I just wrap my hands around a warm cup of tea
and until breathe my shoulders drop.
2. Slow the exhale
When I'm anxious, my breath becomes small and fast.
Like my body is running somewhere.
So I do the opposite.
Inhale for 4.
Exhale for 6 or 7.
Longer exhale tells the nervous system:
you're safe now.
After a few rounds something softens.
Not magic. Just… a little more space inside.
And sometimes that's enough.
3. Do one tiny physical task
Not a big goal.
Not “fix your life”.
Something small and ordinary.
Wash one cup.
Water a plant.
Fold a blanket.
Light a candle.
Repetitive movements calm the mind.
It's almost meditative.
Your body understands rhythm better than thoughts.
I don't try to be perfectly calm anymore.
I just try to be a little more here.
A little more in my hands.
A little more in my breath.
If today feels heavy, start small.
You don't need to solve everything.
Just come back to yourself. One step at a time 🌿
