His diverse musical interests led to global explorations and a more spiritual approach to music, from absorbing and being part of the heavy-hearted Texas blues scene in his time living in Austin, to going back to his Caribbean and Latin roots, with grooves that are printed in his Costa Rican heritage and soul, and everything in between.

His authentic, yet powerful and eclectic sound is not a coincidence, nor is it replicable; it is the result of a lifetime journey of purpose and self-discovery.

Today, Mateo operates a professional recording and mixing facility just outside the city in Quito, Ecuador. Whether tackling big projects with seasoned vets or mentoring up-and-coming artists on their first professional releases, his high-level technical skills and authentic sound find a place in records all around the world.
