How Long Does it Take to Make Fitness Gains? 🏋️‍♀️

Not planned but the Gentle Drill Sergeant’s 5th Commandment focuses on the power of 5 minutes to create multiple changes. 



5 MINUTE WORKOUT METAMORPHIS

Scientifically within the first few minutes, or what I call “getting the lead out”, there is a calibration that goes on.  Sort of like warming up a car.  Your body seems to clear out stagnant, sluggish energy and primes for what comes next. For me. It seems to be a fairly consistent 5 minute window ⏱️, once over the hump, maybe all those cellular cheerleading hormones make it seem like I’m moving and grooving to James Brown.  I find it’s like this with running as well and after getting through the first 5 minutes, everything changes for the better. 🌟 


HOW SOON TO MAKE GAINS EXERCISING

So change does happen overnight and immediately.  Imagine your glove box being the bank account of gains, throw in a quarter, dime, loonie, toonie and next thing you know you’re in the 20 to 30 dollar range.  These small gains start adding up, first internally then showing up externally as well in improved functionality.  Added bonus is the confidence account starts getting benefits as well in the form of satisfaction from persistent, dedicated efforts.  


The two biggest ways to overcome ‘couch surfing syndrome’ and get active are: 

  1. Split second decision to get your object that is at rest to move
  2. The ‘force’ acting upon this object at rest is the transmutation of this decision into physical action to get up and get exercising 


Now knowing that within less than 5 minutes you’ll be feeling better is the springboard to consistent action that provides gains that compound within a few weeks.
