Driftwood fish

I spent a day collecting driftwood on Lake Michigan to make some wall hangings, but I had two birthdays coming up. I decided to make my mother in law a driftwood fish wall hanging, and wasn't sure how to make that happen. I sketched out a pattern on cardboard, bleached my driftwood, and started laying out the pieces. I had to trim and sand every piece to get the correct shape. When I got the body done, I drew out generic fish and tail patterns, and cut them out of copper. I knew she would love the fish, and I was so happy with it that I made another one for my dad!! I used darker, prehistoric bog wood on his, he has always been fascinated with it. He even had the wood carbon tested by the history museum to be 52,000 years old!!
