When I plant my gardens in the spring, I do so knowing that I am growing fall decor. I love visiting a good pumpkin farm, but I have a hard time spending money on decorations that I can grow. I love decorating with natural products that I harvest, and Mother Nature has created. Last spring I planted a few different varieties of pumpkins, gourds (they didn't make it). I spent the day on a lake collecting cattails, and wanted to see if I could dry those successfully. I actually sprayed them with lacquer, but it worked!!. I trimmed dead branches off my birch tree, dried grass, and had left over dyed millet from last year, . All of these things would have been burned or disposed of, so I decided to make something with it. This is what evolved. I used some old copper tubing for the frame
.
I cut my birch branches to size, and used a reel of 22 gauge wire to start wrapping.
Once I finished the frame, I used hot glue to add my millet and cattails. That was it. I didn't need a flashy bow or anything that wasn't natural. At the end of the fall season, I can either store or take apart and start over with pine for winter.
