Not even the time to lauch my shop and Hotone dropped an H-Bomb kind of update !!!111eleven
If DSP, sometimes, was a problem for may ppl, is not anymore ! (or almost)
Without any other "usless talk" (you may read the old blog postdown there if you want), let's jump into the new data :
- SoundClones: Old Fw 32% DSP ------------------ New Fw 22%
- Soloist 100 Clean HQ Amp: Old Fw22% DSP -- New Fw 18%
- Soloist 100 Clean Amp: Old Fw6% DSP --------- New Fw 5%
- Eddy 51 Amp: Old Fw 12% DSP ------------------- New Fw 8%
- IR Normal Resolution: Old Fw 8% DSP ---------- New Fw 6%
- IR High Resolution: Old Fw 16% DSP ------------ New Fw 12%
- Cab Block: Old Fw 6% DSP ------------------------- New Fw 6%
- Pitch Shift: Old Fw 31% DSP ----------------------- New Fw 25%
- Classic PS: Old Fw 19% DSP ---------------------- New Fw 10%
- Pitch Shift HQ: new ---------------------------------- New Fw 22%
- Rotatory: Old Fw 12% DSP ------------------------- New Fw 10%
- Freeze: Old Fw 18% DSP --------------------------- New Fw 14%
- Tape Delay Stereo: Old Fw 12% DSP ------------ New Fw 9%
- Blodless Delay: Old Fw 22% DSP ----------------- New Fw 17%
- Studio Reverb: Old Fw 14% DSP ------------------ New Fw 11%
- 140 Plate HQ: Old Fw 26% DSP ------------------- New Fw 19%
- Tube Spring: Old Fw 28% DSP --------------------- New Fw 21%
- Silver Linings: Old Fw 18% DSP ------------------- New Fw 14%
- Velvet Verb HQ: new --------------------------------- New Fw 13%
Good Job Hotone !
Please note math, in this case is not "linear"
Not sure why, a preset with 1 SoundClone use 22% DSP, a preset with 2 SoundClones 61% (it should be 44%) amd i can not add more (Clones become grey out)

Not sure why, a preset with only 1 Soloist 100 Clean HQ Amp use 18% DSP, a preset with 4 (yes 4 !) Soloist 100 Clean HQ Amps use 75% (it should be 72%)

Not sure why, a preset with only 1 Tube Spring use 21% DSP, a preset with 3 Tube Spring use 82% DSP (it should be 63%)

Not sure if it's a bug or it's related to the "Optimized system architecture and some effects to free up more DSP performance"
It is great anyway, let's see a "normal, real life" scenario preset.

- Noise Gate Fast Gate
- Classic Pitch Shifter
- Compressor Comparoma 4
- SoundClone
- HQ Amp model
- IR in High Resolution
- 7 band EQ
- Digital Delay Stereo
- Studio Reverb
- 3D Chorus
93% DSP !
Honestly, can anyone complain about the lack of DSP now? =^.^=

DSP , depending on your taste, your needs and your way to organize your rig, can be a problem sometimes.
The confusion about Ampero lacking DSP stems, i belive, from Hotone's poor marketing strategy for the Ampero Stage, which led many people to think that the Ampero Stage was supposed to be similar to a Line6 Helix or a Quad Cortex.
Instead, is "just" a Line6 HX-Stomp or a Nano Cortex, or bigger-in-size Ampero 2 Stomp.
And like them, it has enough DSP for this kind of devices.
Like them, there are DSP limits we may ( or may not ) run into, depending on our choices and compromises in building our presets
This blog post aims to analyze the amount of DSP processing used by the various effects slots that builds your Ampero2Stomp, Ampero 2 and Ampero Stage presets.
Hopefully helping people better understand all the fuss about DSP and SoundClones, and/or to make better choices when creating presets. =^.^=
Let's start with the 3 presets i use for demo.
Since i'm on Ampero 2 Stomp, i got only 3 scenes.
Enough to have a clean, a crunch and a lead out of a single SoundClone/Preset.

Noise Gate - Compressor - Amp+Cab SoundClone - 7 band EQ - Delay - Reverb : 93% DSP

Noise Gate - Compressor - Amp SouldClone - IR Normal Res - Delay - Reverb : 98% DSP

Noise Gate - Compressor - Amp SouldClone - Cab Block - Delay - Reverb : 97% DSP
That's why i love Amp+Cab SoundClones, amazing DSP saving. =^.^=
To use an IR or the Cab Block, i need to sacrifice something.
As you can see, there's enough DSP to build complex presets.
Also, using external pedals to compensate the DSP limits is not against the law and, belive it or
not, is often the best way to get great tones with digital rigs.
Adding 1 or 2 analog small pedals will not change the overall size and weight of your pedalboard. =^.^=
Keep in mind, while thinking about what to put inside your preset, that not all Effect Blocks types have a fixed DSP cost.
Some of them are fixed; SoundClones use the same DSP no matter if it's an AMP only SoundClone, an AMP+CAB SoundClone or a Pedal SoundClone.
Many others are variable, depending on which one of those kind of Effect Blocks are we using.
Soloist 100 Clean HQ Amp use more DSP than Petrus Clean HQ Amp.
Here a general list about DSP usage (not covering every single effect blocks, updated FW 2.3.1)
- SoundClones: 32% DSP
- Soloist 100 Clean HQ Amp: 22% DSP
- Soloist 100 Clean Amp: 6% DSP
- Eddy 51 Amp: 12% DSP
- IR Normal Resolution: 8% DSP
- IR High Resolution: 16% DSP
- Cab Block: 6% DSP
- AI / Fast Noise Gate: 1% DSP
- Squeezer Compressor: 5% DSP
- Enhancer Booster: 7% DSP
- Pitch Shift: 31% DSP
- Classic PS: 19% DSP
- Black Tail: 9% DSP
- Green 9: 6% DSP
- Guitar EQ2: 7% DSP
- Graphic 7: 3% DSP
- MiniVibe: 7% DSP
- Rotatory: 12% DSP
- Freeze: 18% DSP
- Analog Delay Stereo: 7% DSP
- Digital Delay HQ: 7% DSP
- Tape Delay Stereo: 12% DSP
- Ambience 2: 9% DSP
- Blodless Delay: 22% DSP
- Studio Reverb: 14% DSP
- 140 Plate HQ: 26% DSP
- Tube Spring: 28% DSP
- Silver Linings: 18% DSP
As you can see, is not always and only a matter of SoundClones vs Amp models.
DSP usage of some Effect Blocks can be very high as well.
Make your choice wisely, and don't forget external pedals can be your Ampero's best friends ! =^.^=
As you can see in this video, using the 93% preset with an Amp+Cab SoundClone, how much
versatility you can have in just 3 scene, just by changing the SoundClone Gain and Eq settings.
