I’m DeDe—a mother, entrepreneur, and someone who woke up one day and realized the system was never built for our kids to actually thrive. I had an older daughter who barely made it through high school due to medical issues affecting her attendance, and after watching my three teenagers get shoved into one-size-fits-all boxes that didn’t honor who they were, I pulled the plug on the public school system and took education into my own hands.
Each of my kids was different. One was a creative powerhouse, loved to write, extremely artistic, and lived in her imagination. My son thrived in science, chemistry, and asking the big questions. The third was always the first to step up and lend a hand. Serving came naturally for her. And yet the system tried to funnel them all through the same path: 4 years of English, mandatory algebra, science formulas they'd never use, and zero life skills. None of it made sense.
So I did something radical. I stopped trying to force them to fit the system. I started building an education around them instead.
We dove head-first into real life. They learned how to budget, work, communicate, set goals, and solve real-world problems. We didn’t ditch math, reading, or science, we just made it make sense. Learning happened at the grocery store, in the kitchen, on job sites, and through deep conversations. I taught them how to think, not just what to think.
This wasn’t homeschooling out of fear. It was homeschooling out of freedom.
Now I’m on a mission to help other Texas parents reclaim that same freedom. I want to show you how to educate your kids without burning them, or yourself out. I want to give you tools that actually work for your family. I want to break down the Texas homeschool laws so you’re not overwhelmed or intimidated. And most of all, I want to help you trust your gut again. Because no one knows your kids like you do.
Whether you’re just starting out or knee-deep in doubt, I’m here to walk you through it. Not with more rules but with clarity, confidence, and common sense.
Let’s rebuild education one real-life lesson at a time.
