FOUNDERS


Tori Meskin: NICUity Co-Founder

MSN, RN RNC-NIC 

● Tori Meskin MSN RNC-NIC (@nurse.tori_) is a Registered Nurse specializing in NICU care.

● She has worked bedside since 2013 specializing in neonatal and pediatric critical care.

● Tori graduated from The University of Arizona (#beardown) with a dual major in Nursing and Psychology.

● As a bedside nurse she has worked for Children’s Hospitals and University Hospitals in Level IV NICU, Trauma I centers, and consulting centers. She is trained to work in specialized areas; Small Baby Unit, Body Cooling Team, & Surgical NICU (Cardiothoracic, Gastrointestinal, Neurosurgical, & Congenital anomalies etc.)

● Tori has grown her platforms to develop a community full of support, education, and provides a shiftworker big sister personal sharing her nurse shift lifestyle, nicu nurse journey, nurse tips, and little life hacks.

Tia Miller: NICUity Co-Founder

MS RNC-NIC, C-NPT

● Tia is a NICU Transport Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager with 10 years of nursing experience under her belt, 8 of those at her region’s Level IV NICU.

● She earned her RNC-NIC certification in 2020 and is passionate about educating new nurses, graduating with her Masters in Nursing Education in 2022.

● As a transfer to the NICU world, Tia has the unique perspective of someone who didn’t start as a new grad. But she can successfully say

she no longer has any desire to work with "big people."

● Tia is the woman behind @thatnursetia, an account dedicated to NICU education, humor, and sharing the reality of life as a healthcare worker.

● She prides herself on the relationship she develops with not only other nurses in her community, but the parents that find her as well.

Dr. Prem Fort: Contributor

Neonatologist

● Dr. Prem Fort is a neonatologist and has been in practice +17 years.

● He currently works for a level IV NICU in a highly recognized academic institution. 

● Dr. Prem is the man behind the social media persona, The NICU Doc, helping families and healthcare staff better to understand the intimidating and scary environment of the NICU.

● Dr Prem hopes his platforms & now NICUity can help educate and empower those that have or work with babies, because ultimately, we ALL want the BEST for our BABIES!

Amanda Williams: Contributor

CSN, ACCNS-N, RNC-NIC, C-ELBW, C-NNIC

● Amanda has been a NICU nurse since 2009 and loves everything about neonatal nursing.

● She currently works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a Level IV NICU in Los Angeles.

Amanda is a fellow business owner of Amanda's NICU Ed where you can find more resources, blogs, and courses to support you in your nursing journey.


Samantha Manassero: Contributor

MSN RNC-NIC C-NPT, Flight RN + Device Specialist

● Sam graduated with her BSN in 2011 and started a new graduate RN Residency program at a Level IV NICU.

● Sam completed her MSN in Leadership in 2016 and began teaching nursing school at local Universities.

● After 7 years in the NICU, Sam became an Emergency Flight/Transport nurse.

Gabriel Hutson: Contributor

MN, RNC-NIC, C-ELBW, C-NNIC

● Gabriel (@nicu_nurse_gabriel) graduated with his B.S. in Biology in 2019 and then graduated with his Masters of Nursing from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University in 2021.

● Gabriel is a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), the Academy of Neonatal Nursing (ANN), and Sigma Theta Tau international nursing honors society. He is also a volunteer for the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

● Gabriel has experience in both Level III and Level IV NICUs, and is a certified NRP instructor.

Dr. Gil Wernovsky: Contributor

Pediatric Cardiologist & Researcher 

● Dr. Wernovsky has been a pediatric cardiologist and cardiac intensivist since 1985, having worked at Children's Hospital Boston, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and currently Children's National Health System.

● His research has focused on improving cardiac output and minimizing short-term morbidity in the cardiac ICU, as well as the neurodevelopment consequences of complex congenital heart disease

● He is also the organizer of The Baby Blue Sound Collective - a musical group of Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons and Pediatric Cardiologists.

Yaeji Kim, CHD Doodles

Congenital Heart Defect Illustrator

● CHD Doodles LLC strives to create a more approachable Congenital Heart Defect educational experience for those professionals who are visual learners. She has illustrated and co-published this workbook, which includes many pre and post-op cardiac defects.

● Illustrated all cardiac defects and characters in our CHD e-book.

● Collaborated with cardiothoracic surgeons, pediatric cardiac educators, and physicians to most accurately depict 3-dimensional defects into 2-D format.
