Ever wondered why is salt soooo important to practical magick?
I mean, really… that thing is everywhere and seems to be the answer to everything!
Circle casting? Salt. Protection? Salt. Banishing? Salt. Purifying? Salt.
Why?!
Well, first of, lets clarify that, traditionally, by “salt” we are referring to sea salt and only sea salt. And the reason why sea salt is so important and loved, is because it combines the 4 Elements.
It has to do with the way it’s made. Sea salt is actually a mineral in the sea water, so there you already have 2 of the Elements: Water and Earth. To get the salt from the water, sea water is collected in shallow grounds (man-made salt water pools) where by Air and Sun (Fire), the water will evaporate, leaving behind sea salt crystals.
So, there you have it! Sea salt is the easiest, cheapest and most loved thing globally, that combines all 4 Elements. And, once you bless it, therefore add your Spirit to it, it becomes a complete pentagram.
