I'm not a massive fan of Star Wars, but I didn't know Djerba is home to some iconic filming locations from the this saga.

I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of course but it's so different in real life, I thought the spaces were so small. The landscapes/surroundings were worth the visit but let's be honest, the experience wasn't exactly as glamorous as the big screen would have you believe.

The set was much smaller and less "otherworldly" than I had imagined. Instead of the epic desert landscapes and futuristic villages, I found myself surrounded by modest, simple structures that were clearly just film set remnants. While the iconic location certainly has its charm, it felt a lot less like "the galaxy far, far away" and more like an everyday Tunisian village. 😅

Don't get me wrong, it was still an amazing experience, but the magic of the movies? Well, it’s a bit lost in translation when you're standing there in person. Still, I can now proudly say I’ve walked in the footsteps of a Jedi… just don’t expect Tatooine to look exactly like it did in the films!
