I've Had the Worst Experience as a Black, Female Content Creator ----But I'll Never Quit

I’ve been creating content for ten years now. As a writer, video creator, and lifestyle blogger, I’ve made money, I’ve lost money, and along the way, I’ve discovered that it’s tough for Black creators.

I don’t want to turn this into a rant session; however, I’ve experienced racism on YouTube and TikTok, and I’ve noticed how hard Black women have to work in the content creation space to get recognized and valued.

One of the reasons I started my One Million Black-Owned Brands initiative is to support Black creators and provide opportunities for brand partnerships, UGC roles, creator visibility, and much more.

Instead of complaining about it, I’m building something that’s ours. A platform that will empower our community to thrive on our own terms, without needing to ask for permission or wait for seat allocations at tables that weren’t built with us in mind.

A platform that will actively bridge the gap between talented Black creators and forward-thinking brands, ensuring our work is not only seen but also compensated fairly, recognized authentically, and protected fiercely.

Because if ten years in this industry have taught me anything, it’s that waiting for traditional spaces to fix their systemic inequities is a losing game. The algorithms might hide our faces, the brand pitch responses might stay silent, and the pay gaps might persist, but our creativity, our culture, and our influence remain unmatched. They consume our trends, adopt our language, and copy our aesthetics, yet hesitate to value the originators.

Tables are turning and things are changingmedium.com

That narrative ends here.

Through the One Million Black-Owned Brands initiative, we are shifting from survival mode to legacy building. We are creating an ecosystem centered on four non-negotiable pillars:

  • Direct Access & Opportunities: Connecting creators directly with UGC opportunities, long-term brand ambassadorships, and equity-driven partnerships that pay what we are actually worth.
  • Collective Visibility: Leveraging shared networks and cross-promotional platforms so our content gets placed in front of audiences who truly appreciate, value, and support our work.
  • Economic Sovereignty: Building digital assets, digital products, and independent platforms that allow us to generate sustainable, predictable revenue outside of capricious social media algorithms.
  • Community & Mental Peace: Establishing a safe space for Black women and creators to collaborate, share resources, rest, and build without the constant weight of hyper-visibility and racial fatigue.

I didn’t survive ten years of algorithmic bias, underpay, and quiet disrespect just to throw in the towel. I survived it so I could build the blueprint for everyone coming up behind me.

This isn’t just about making content anymore. It’s about building economic power, restoring joy to our creative processes, and proving that when Black women unite to build their own tables, the whole room pays attention.

If you are a Black creator, brand owner, or supporter who is ready to stop begging for breadcrumbs and start owning the bakery , welcome home. We are just getting started.

Welcome to One Million Black-Owned Brands.
