A sewing blog anniversary

(pictures missing from Blogger)

I recently found a blog, Sew Many Ways, that I'm really enjoying. Karen comes up with some great ideas for uses of non-sewing things to be used for sewing. One of her ideas that I first tried is the tiny ponytail holders to put over bobbins to control the thread. My machine has detachable box with spaces for bobbins, feet, and what-have-you. The bobbins fit too far down into the spaces, and it's hard to get them out. When I read her tip for using the tiny elastic hair bands, I thought that maybe that would help, and it does. Now I can put my finger on the bobbin and just roll it right out. And it also keeps the thread from coming off the bobbin and making a mess [which is what her intent was]. I had once tried using plastic tubing to keep the threads under control, but that was more trouble than it was worth! This isn’t the greatest picture but you can see how the bobbin is more than half way out with the hair band on.

Be sure to go and check out Karen’s blog and see what other good ideas she has. She’s been doing this for a year, and is having a giveaway that you can sign up for.

We’ve had some beautiful weather this past week. Our snow is almost all gone. In one week we went from a couple of inches of snow in front of the garage, to cleared off cement, and mud and ruts. It would be nice if this was really spring, but I doubt that. I overheard someone last week saying how our weather has been going from warm one month to cold the next since last fall. I sure hope we don’t have a cold April. March came in like a lamb, will it go out like a lion??
