Addition to my sewing room!!!

(pictures missing from Blogger)

For the first time in about 14 months I sewed at MY sewing cabinet today! When we got an offer on our house in August 2008, my sewing came to a halt. We had to be out by September 8th, so I had to really get packing. The plan was to move to my mom's and build onto to her house.

We lived in a friend's motor home parked next to my mom's house while the addition was being built. Then my mom started going downhill just past her 93rd birthday in mid-October. She passed away right after Thanksgiving. So then in addition to adding on, we started remodeling the original part of the house, too.

The main remodeling was to make 2 small bedrooms into a sewing room for me. That was finished enough for me to move into it in March, but I was using the old Singer cabinet that my mom had always used. The cabinet that my dad had made for me over 25 years ago was still in storage in a garage. And finally today we got it moved into my sewing room. Oh wow! I think I died and went to Heaven!!

It was built to go into a corner, but now it’s kinda in the middle of the room. Originally, the corner had a window to the north and one to the west, so I could look out and see things. Well, now the windows aren’t there. Sitting where it is, I can look out a south window, and out the doorway, into the living room and see out the north picture window. I have a tv now that I didn’t have before. I’ll take some pictures in a day or so and add them into this so you can see what I’m talking about. I don’t have enough energy to do it now. I have a cold and my nose is really plugged up and I’m pooped. And too lazy to get up and do it now.

I did finish the 3 mini quilts on Thursday. I can’t remember the name of the book they’re from. The 2 on either side are called “Signature Quilt” and the middle one is “Bear’s Paw”.

Yesterday I started on a wallhanging with 12 photos of birds. The fabrics are all batiks and it’s going to be beautiful. I’m hoping to finish piecing the top tomorrow.
