A project finally DONE!

Last Tuesday, very early in the morning, I started on a project that I expected to finish by the end of the day. I guess I'm only 6 days late!

For a very long time, I've had it on my to-do list to make new oven mitts. Mine are disgustingly worn out and so dirty I can't get them clean anymore. Ick

.

The only pattern I use is a free one I got many years ago from Joann's? Hancocks (not of Paducach, the one that used to be in Minnesota)? I no longer have the original pattern (although, who knows? it could be somewhere). I typed up my instructions and my pattern pieces are copies I made. I also enlarged it for my husband's bigger hands.

The little one at the top right is a handle jacket for my cast iron frying pans. The fabric used is an older one, Timeless Treasures' Hen House. It was leftovers from the Whirlwind quilt.

I love my Husqvarna Sapphire 930, but it can't handle the thickness it was supposed to go through to put on the binding. I even hand-stitched where it skipped stitches on the first one, then remembered I have my mom's old second-from-the-bottom Janome. Thick seams were no problem for the Janome!

It feels good to have accomplished a long-overdue project. Now I can get back to sewing quilts!
