All Stacked Up

Northcott's Snow Much Fun collection is shipping to stores now. I picked up a kit from the Creamery yesterday, and I have the top done already! It is soooooo cute!

First off, I cut the panel pictures apart, and put them up on the design wall. I only switched two around. I like to have the images looking toward the center of the quilt rather than off into the distance. (Yeah, I know, they can't really 'see' anything...)

I didn't quite have them spaced out correctly.

I put a numbered pin in each block to return them to where they belonged.

Usually, I don't cut everything before I start sewing, but this time I did, and put all the pieces up on the design wall, except for the vertical sashing and first border.

Then I sewed the sashing and first border..

...and finished up with the mitered border.

It went together quickly, even though I had to redo EVERY mitered corner. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I did it on all corners!

I also didn't do the mitered border as I instruct in the pattern. I like to have a motif centered on each side. For that reason, I cut all border strips the full length of the fabric, decide what I want to center, and make sure there is enough to give me the length I need.

Sometimes the same motif is centered on all four sides, sometimes the sides are the same with a different motif centered for the top and bottom.

This was such a fun quilt to work on! I like working with flannel, although I'm not looking forward to doing a flannel binding!

The Old Creamery Quilt Shop has kits available.

There's still plenty of time to sew up a new soft and comfy quilt to snuggle under this winter!
