Is that light at the end of the tunnel a Lantern ?

Why, yes, it is!

I designed Lanterns with Northcott's Allure collection. Because patterns need to be to Northcott for them to be shipped with the fabric to the quilt shops, I couldn't make my test sample with the Allure fabric.

If I request it, Northcott will send me fabric for the quilt. I usually use the fabric for another test quilt since by the time I get it, it's been in the stores for a while already, and I've sold patterns with the digital image on the cover.

I did have the Dragonfly Dreams fabric from Chain of Geese.

I have no pictures of making the sample (I usually think of it too late).

I finished the Lanterns sample with Dragonfly Dreams in March 2023, and put my pattern testers to work on it long before I needed to ship the patterns to Northcott. I knew the instructions were good, it wasn't necessary to finish my sample quilt.

So there the poor thing laid, first in a tote.

I bought the fabric I needed for the backing. One width wasn't wide enough, but I had leftovers from the front and pieced them in.

Yay! No leftovers!

I folded the top and the backing together and once again, there it lay, patiently waiting for me to quilt it.

After I finished my Strip It test quilt, I decided it was time for Dragonfly Dreams Lanterns to be quilted!

I haven't done much quilting with the Tin Lizzie Queen Quilter I bought used over a year ago, a few small quilts, tabletopper size that I didn't like enough to finish and use. My granddaughters have used it, they even quilted a lap quilt on it and did very well!

While it's not perfect, I am pleased with how the quilting turned out. It's not good enough that I would that I would do it for a customer, but I'm happy with it.

I recently bought a spoon foot for my Lizzie. I wasn't sure how to adjust the height of the foot, so I set it like for the foot that was on the machine. I was having trouble going over the lantern blocks, thinking "I thought this foot was to fix that problem". Finally, after I was almost done, I thought of raising the foot a bit. Wow, what a difference! Should have thought of that right away!

But I got it quilted, added the binding that's been on the design wall since I finished piecing the top, washed the quilt, dried it and took it out for pictures.

It was a bit windy...

I kept trying and managed to snap one without wind.

I really like this fabric! I love all Northcott fabric! Now I can put a real quilt on the pattern cover!

I have used the Allure fabric for another test quilt, but that's for another day!
