Instagram’s highlights are an easy, free, and effective way to increase engagement with your followers. If you are a photographer, blogger or business owner, this feature is a must-have marketing tool to showcase and promote your brand and win new customers. Sounds great? Than why not use it?

WHY ARE INSTAGRAM HIGHLIGHTS SO IMPORTANT?

Instagram is all about visuality and stories. When users visit your Instagram, you have only a short period of time to impress them. Story Highlights are extremely important, because they are located under the bio section and this is what users see first. If you use your Highlights cleverly, you have a bigger chance to win their likes and follows. They open new opportunitues for a better connection with your audience.

HOW TO USE YOUR INSTAGRAM HIGHLIGHTS?

Once a story disappears after 24 hours, you can save it in your Highlights. That means, your most valuable Stories stay for an umlimited amount of time in front of your audience.

First of all, you have to make sure that your Instagram Stories Archive feature is turned on. You can find it by the Privacy and Securuty section / Story controls / Save to Archive. If you don’t turn this on, your Stories will disappear.

You can highlight a story that is less then 24 hours old – just click on the “highlight’ button and save it.
You can highlight an expired story through your Archive.
You can create a new Highlight by clicking the “Highlight + ” under the bio.
