
The European Botanic Gardens Consortium met for the weekend at Cambridge University Botanic Gardens (8-10 May). With representatives from 21 countries in person and online, the meeting discussed a wide range of topics including monitoring invasive species, managing data, plant conservation and future opportunities for collaboration. Participants were treated to a tour of the gardens and a visit to the Herbarium, including a look at Charles Darwin's oldest known specimen (from Wales!).
Friday morning focused on quick-fire talks from the community; RBG Kew, Gothenburg Botanic Garden, Romania, Georgia and a collecting trip to Chile. After a tour of the gardens and herbarium Sam Brockington and his colleagues led a discussion on the Data Ecosystem concept, referencing recent research from his team.


The Saturday and Sunday were devoted to updates from the community and areas of cooperation.
