It's been a few weeks since I did a blog, please accept my apologies. I have been settling into my new admin job (its going well) and the cat and kittens actually take up a lot of time. They are wild now and they take a lot of looking after now that they are almost off their mothers milk. Missie the mum is getting very snappy with them, she eats her own food and theirs I keep telling her off, explaining that she should put her babies first, but she doesn't seem to care. The other job I have asked if I can change departments so we will see what happens there.
I did dig a border out the front to discover that there is not a lot of soil so I have had to put bulbs and very young plants in there that don't have much of a root system so that they can find their own way. It has in it antirrhinum that we grew from seed, acidanthera that we grew from bulb, amaranthus that we was kindly gifted and a few other plants. I actually just stuck in a couple of dahlia bulbs that I was given by my friend/customer that have already started to grow in her bedroom that she took out of her garden last year. I also sowed some pink sunflower seeds in there so hopefully they will grow. I don't know if you remember, but I gave a little plant away to a man who was walking by with his daughter a while back. She was trying to look at the plants and he was dragging her away so I took out a little jade cutting and gave it to him. He proceeded to tell me on this occasion that it had grown showing me with hand gestures and so I gave him some of the sunflower seeds to try and grow together with his daughter.
I managed to finish a painting off for my brother for his birthday, he requested a steam train, its the longest I have spent on a piece of art. I prefer painting flowers and plants for sure as buildings and steam trains take a long time to do. You can't see it, but I painted his date of birth on the train. I have a t-shirt to paint next and this is a fish of some sort that I have to do. I would like to do some kind of joke on their too, but I need to get my thinking cap on.
My youngest son left school so that is both of my boys in the world of work now, well it will be when Ollie manages to secure an apprenticeship so far he hasn't heard back from any about starting and like most 16 year olds he doesn't really know what he wants to do. We did go plant shopping the other day, he wasn't best pleased about going, but when we was there he soon cheered up. Plants really do make people happy! He chose two very beautiful plants a yellow ball cactus and a anthurium better known as a flamingo flower plant. I also discovered that he loves roses as much as I do so I brought him one of those too a few days later. He loves deep red flowers so that is the colour that he got. The anthurium has to live in the kitchen as it likes humidity I have discovered it is a thirsty plant.
We love this time of year as this is when both our indoor and outdoor plants thrive if you ensure watering schedules and feeds are kept on top of that is. A lot of our indoor plants are flowering right now that never have before so that is a joy to see. I will be updating all of the plant pictures on my online shop as they have all grown a lot since I listed them. I really need to get back to writing lists as I stopped doing everything I did in an organised fashion since the cat and kittens arrived for me to foster. I had forgotten how ungovernable cats can be and how they try to rule the roost. I have fallen in love totally with Willow the runt of the litter, her character is beautiful she is very chilled and playful. Her brother and sister the ginger two are a lot more wild and more of a handful.
I hope that you are all doing well and thank you for reading, muchos love to you all x
