So it's been exciting times with the houseplants this year so far as seven plants that haven't flowered before are flowering.
- The Alocasia Regal Shield (found in the picture) was pretty magnificent to experience as it ended up looking like a super hero with a cape, you can see the evolution of it on my Instagram account or on my Facebook page Plantlifejoy. It looks amazing, but it smells absolutely disgusting very similar to cat wee. I thought it was the kittens who were having accidents for several days until I decided to stick my nose near the bloom to discover it was indeed the flower. Apparently it is unusual for them to flower so I feel honoured to have experienced it.
- Our Philodendron Brasil also has several blooms on it, again it has been fascinating to watch as a leaf emerges from the flower. I don't think it has finished with its blooming so I will have to let you know about that one. They are a very similar colour to the rest of the plant with pink and orange on the sepal I think it is called (the bit that protects the flower).
- Our Philodendron Scandens also flowered again producing a leaf like the Philodendron Brasil and the flower is very like the plant itself it is mainly green.
- Oliver's Haworthia had a bloom on a tall stem with several of the most intricate flowers on in it in white and they looked like little angels. Absolutely beautiful, again I feel honoured to have experienced it.
- Oliver's echeveria also flowered again a long stem emerged that hosted several beautiful blooms of pink and orange.
- Tradescantia Tenderness flowered it's flowers are white with yellow anthers (the bit that holds the pollen).
- Tradescantia Purple Passion also flowered while it was in water rooting, the flowers are a beautiful lilac colour.
The usual suspects also flowered our Tradescantia Sweetness, Tradescantia Tricolour, Peperomia Caperata, Scillia Ledebouria and both our Oxalis Triangularis and Oxalis (green) their flowers are so very beautiful.
The kittens are crazy now they are currently either running around my feet or climbing the sofa trying to see what is taking my attention away from them. I'm not going to lie I think I will be very sad when they do get adopted as they make me laugh when they discover new things and they can be very comforting when they have a quiet moment curled up on my lap. Whoever does adopt them will be very lucky as they are already toilet trained and they are very intelligent, it will be a real shame to split the family up as they clearly love each other. I think I have been accepted as a family member as they give my a lick or a gentle bite and that is from what I read initiation into their clan. I don't know if I will foster again as they are very time consuming and you can't leave them for too long in the house on their own. They are itching to explore further by going outside you can see it when I escape outside to peg the washing or do plant things outside.
Talking of outside plants the Calendula finally flowered after three months of growing from seed. All of the plants that I have grown from seed have struggled this year or have been very slow growing in comparison to previous years I think its due to the cold temperatures and lack of sunshine. When we do get some sunshine they have a huge growth spurt though. I love to grow plants it's such a wonderful thing to watch anything grow though not just plants, humans included. I love to see a person become the best version of themselves too. I also love to support people in their evolution and growth.
We have fallen in love with roses again this year and I am fortunate enough that my admin job is close to a church yard that is home to many, there is also a memorial garden close by that also homes many rose bushes and my favourite garden to work on also has a lot of rose bushes within it. I'm feeling the love right now.
My youngest son was feeling glum one day so we went to a garden centre his mood lifted almost instantly and it lasted for hours so I truly do believe that plants do make people happy. I wish that the whole world could discover that fact and it would be a way more beautiful place to live if we all appreciated the beauty that is provided for us. I think that it would also cause people to care more about the planet that we live on and each other. Wishful thinking I know as most people are far to engrossed in things without meaning. I suppose they mean things to them so I should withhold my judgement really, we can't all be the same, but we can accept each others differences. I had another spattle with a vegan, I'm sorry if you're a non judgemental vegan who doesn't enforce their often misconstrued beliefs on others its the ones that believe they are superior due to their choice to be vegan that get my goat they are so rude and operate from their ego rather from their soul and I like to destroy egos with actual facts that I have researched its my other hobby. I won't go into those facts, but if you do want to know what they are let me know. I need to make the dinner so I best stop writing and go and do it.
Muchos love to you beautiful people and thank you for taking the time to read my blog, you are awesome!
