I didn't see my mum yesterday for Mother's day as we decided last year that our relationship is just too toxic and we just can't seem to get past our differences. We have tried for many years and we always end up falling out so last year we decided to call it quits. Obviously I love my mum because she is my mum and I am grateful for all that she did for me. I did send her a message thanking her for carrying me and for looking after me when I was little. Then I remembered that her favourite flower is a freesia so I decided to paint a picture of one. Freesia's have a sweet scent and they are very symbolic to Mother's day, it's part of the Iridaceae family.
The funnel shaped blooms grow from corms, they can be seen in a rainbow of colours during spring and summer. They are regarded as zygomorphic, which means their flowers only grow on the side of the stalk. They symbolize a lasting friendship, faithfulness and fidelity, and trust. They can also represent childishness, immaturity and innocence so they suit my mums and my relationship well lol.
Red freesias like most red flowers symbolize love and passion.
Pink freesias represent motherly love.
White freesias represent purity and innocence.
Yellow freesias represent joy and happiness.
I may have to go and purchase a pack of corms to grow some now as I remembered how beautiful their scent is and they will make a beautiful edition to any garden or home.
