Hola,
We are in full swing with the gardening and allotments now, we have been blessed with glorious sunshine for about eight weeks now in the Midlands. I hear some areas had thunderstorms, which we love. As a child we feared them due to the stories of balls of fire burning peoples' houses or people being struck by lightening, but then I realised that the chances of these things happening are pretty slim. Although I do know someone that had their house struck by lightening once, everyone was ok though.
I have been thinking that there is a lot of fear in this world, we are taught to fear everything, and I don't want to live in fear anymore I don't think anyone should have to within a civilised society then I remember that we don't live in one so much these days. The club where I work got broken into recently, the criminals escaped with nothing so it was a waste of their and our time. I had planned to garden, but got rudely called into work to deal with it. The community were kind, helpful and supportive so it just shows you that community is where it is at.
The police however took 16 hours to rock up and were surprised that we had cleaned up the mess and opened for business. I lost respect for the police in 2021- I won't say why, but lets just say it was then I realised that they are not to protect us, they protect the system, which is corrupt by the way. An offbeat police man rocked up (a member of the club) while the area ones were busy showing they are decent humans by joining in with the community celebrations. Pretty sure we would all prefer it if they tackled crime, wouldn't we? Lol it's not funny is it? We all know it and we are all desperate for change, it's coming people. Good changes are on their way, they happen everyday, we just have to focus on them.
Anyway back to gardening so due to the dry heat we have been experiencing the whitefly have been having a field day. I haven't seen many of their predators around (ladybirds, green lacewings, garden spiders, and not likely to see a dragonfly although we have once). We are missing Nasturtiums in our garden this year and they help with a whitefly issue so maybe it's that. The plants that got destroyed were violas that were a few years old, they seem to have gone for those. Unfortunately we sometimes lose plants don't we? As wounding as it can be.
We have exciting news, we got to visit RHS Malvern Spring Show, it was so good. Got hay fever in the flower tent as to be expected. I didn't get to see everything because I attended with my friend who can't walk far. If you ever get to go I definitely recommend it, they have plants that you don't see everyday in garden centres for sale. I would absolutely recommend that you take a trolley because by the end of the day my arms were about dropping off from carrying lots of plants. I love our garden, but I would love so much to have a garden I could plant into and make so very beautiful. Using pots is not easy although you can move them around on a daily basis if you are not pleased. I don't know about you, but I spend hours just looking at either our indoor or outdoor garden. The outdoor one especially with the birds flying in and out for food or for a drink at the water feature and the bees pollinating the flowers.
I spoke to a bee at RHS Malvern I was at a stall surrounded by flowers and a bee buzzed around me for ages. I said "hey little bee, I know I glow, but I am not a flower" forgetting that I was surrounded by people. Lol oh well
I best go and finish off dinner.
Muchos love x
