Pansy

Late last summer we planted some pansy seeds today we noticed that the first one has flowered (see picture) its always a great joy when something that you planted as a tiny seed becomes the plant and then when it flowers well the joy is immense. Did you know that pansies are a hybrid flower created from Violas? Did you also know that they are edible? Yes that is right you can eat them fresh in salads or you can make candied pansies for a dessert.

They are a beautiful addition to any garden, they go well in a border or in a plant pot or a hanging basket. They are pretty easy to grow from seed, we would suggest giving it a go rather than purchasing from garden centres where plastic is often used to sell them in. We will be doing a demonstration of how to sow seeds within the membership site soon. Anyone can grow from seed, it takes ten minutes maximum to sow them and then all you have to do is water regularly. You can buy most seed packets for less that £2, so the only other thing that you really need is compost as they can be sown in anything that you have lying around the house as long as it has a hole for drainage. Go on give it a go!

We have sown a few seeds already this year, tomatoes, peppers and sweetpeas. The seed trays did get frozen during the worst weather that we had, but freezing seeds can help with germination so we are hoping for the best! Good luck if you do give it a try!
