A lovely customer gave me this seed set last year I left it outside in some metal drawers so some elements of it became mouldy (the name tags), however the most important parts survived. The husk pots were not ideal as they didn't hold the water at all, it just seeped right through it, which was not great as the water was needed for the discs of coir that were to be used to sow the seeds. We had to put the husk pot within a pot to soak the discs, the seeds were plentiful in the packs probably too many to sow all at once really, but we though ahhh what the hell and sowed them all.
They are currently sat on our windowsill and I will be shocked if they sprout into seedlings especially the lavender as they like a sandy soil mix and a certain temperature. I hope that they all do grow into seedlings because you can never have too many flowers and I love to watch things grow and develop! We will keep you posted in future blog posts about the outcome.
I checked out the price of the seed set as I was very intrigued as some of the seeds you can pick up for 99p each well all of them if you shop around so I think £15.95 for the set is a little bit steep really. Sorry to the company and all because the packaging is lovely, but I personally would much prefer someone going to the effort to make a gift set themselves and they could probably do it for around £8 to £10 having spare equipment left over. They could also reuse a box or repurpose plant pots making it cheaper and it wouldn't be too difficult for them to add instructions or rely on the instructions on the seed packs.
We have so many seeds on the go and if we had the room we would definitely have a lot more! I feel like I have far too much time on my hands, which leads to overthinking and often misery lol so I would be happy to have my time filled with more productive things.
