This weekend we got into action with seed sowing, we didn't get to sow as many seeds as we would like as we don't have the facilities to do so, which is very frustrating. Our one remaining plastic greenhouse had a split in it so we used good old trusty Sellotape it wont last long as a repair, but it will at least keep some of the pests out which there seems to be a lot of in our garden. I suppose that comes with leaving the leaves for the insects to hibernate amongst and for not having a tidy garden.
Last year we had a lot of whiteflies in the garden and they seem to already of made an appearance, we also had a load of tiny caterpillars that were munching their way through our heucheras so we removed all leaves that looked like they were being munched on and I am happy to report that they are thriving again. I found it odd as they are not generally susceptible to pests. Well the vine weevil, but it wasn't those. After looking at different caterpillars we believe it may be the Angel Shade, which is actually a moth.
After sowing mainly flower seeds because we really want to be able to make our garden look beautiful this year, we are hoping to use all of the flowers that we have sown from seed. We have planted some that we grew from seed in the local area in disused parts that were bare until we planted some plants in and they are currently thriving. Some Wallflowers that we grew from seed last year are now in flower, which is a beautiful sight to see!
I'm still trying with the painting too, yesterday I had a go at a zinnia flower I messed up on it a little, but I think you can tell what flower it is so that is all that matters.
