Winter and the lovely Hebe

Winter is my least favourite season almost everything goes to sleep or dies and this latest cold spell has almost destroyed lots of our outdoor plants. One thing that did make me smile today was the little Hebe that we added to our Autumn Winter hanging basket. It looked really beautiful covered in ice and was still looking healthy and happy so I thought I would share it with you.

I know we aren't supposed to wish our lives away, but I really can't wait for Spring to arrive! I try to find the odd glimmer while out and about, the snowdrops are just starting to pop up and I can see the buds on our Cherry tree out the front. The other day on a walk in our local woods I spotted a gathering of moss on a tree trunk and that made me smile. Another thing is the birds as they seem to spend more time in our gardens in the Winter if you feed them, which we do. Lately we have had a lot of blue tits around 20 of them in the trees behind our house.

I haven't really watched tv for three years now, I tend to watch the birds and I have studied their behaviour there is definitely a pecking order with the different kinds. Magpies are the king around here, then it's the pigeons, starlings, thrush, and, the smaller birds tend to be kinder to each other. We also have a robin that visits regularly and we nod at each other in appreciation. Horatio is our woodpigeon he has been coming into our garden for two years now and he keeps other pigeons out of our garden unless he brings one of his many females. I swear he says "Come with me this crazy lady will feed us guaranteed you will dine like a queen" lol he has on occasion come into our house to have a nosey around and he often looks like he is having a chat with me. I really wish I could talk bird, one day I will have an Avarie to home birds that need help.

All I can say is thank goodness for houseplants, you can step back into your home to your indoor garden and see many happy plants.
