About

Prince-Oke Ugorji is a London-based painter whose practice uses portraiture to explore identity, memory, cultural inheritance and the psychological worlds we carry. Working primarily in oil, his paintings move between observation and imagination, creating figures that feel at intimate, archetypal and otherworldly.

Colour, stillness and symbolism recur throughout his work as ways of examining emotional presence, resilience and what lingers beneath the surface. Rather than portraiture as likeness alone, Ugorji approaches the figure as a space for storytelling — where personal experience, inherited histories and imagined characters can coexist.
