tracktion waveform can load .SF2 Soundfont files via it's Micro Sampler instrument supplied with the standard version of this popular multitrack recording software platform.....
Simply drag a .SF2 Soundfont file from Windows file explorer into an instance of Micro Sampler or load it via Waveform's file browser.
The image below is a screen shot of my 'Piano Mechanics: Prelude' soundfont loaded up into the instruments. Key and velocity mapping is shown within the 'Zones' page of Micro Sampler. The file uploaded and played flawlessly.
This feature give Waveform users access to lot's of soundware via soundfont libraries both free and usually very reasonably priced commercial products, although I would still recommend Tracktion's 'introductory' soundware pack which, at the time of writing, you can purchase for just a few dollars along with your copy of Waveform.
All the files from my Songlab and Songlab Lite libraries can be loaded and played.
A Micro Sampler/Soundfont instrument can also be combined with Waveform's collection of effects and processors via the 'Racks' feature. 'Racks' allows you to create instrument and effects combinations and then save and reload them as a single file. More on Waveform's 'Racks' feature in a future post.....
