Why Ranking on the Pinterest Feed is Important?

Ranking on the Pinterest feed doesn’t just mean your pin appears somewhere amongst millions.

It has huge advantages. Here are some of them.

  • Better Visibility: Imagine you’re flipping through a fancy magazine. The first page you see is full of the coolest, most eye-catching things the magazine has to offer.

Now, think of your Pinterest feed as being like that first page.

The higher your pin ranks, the closer it gets to the top, and the more chances it has of grabbing someone’s attention as they scroll through.

  • More Engagement: The higher your pin ranks, the more people see it on their feed. And when they see something they like, they interact with it!

The more interaction (likes, comments, saves) your pin gets, the more excited Pinterest gets too!

They think, “Wow, everyone loves these pins! Let’s show it to even more people!”

So, your pin climbs higher and higher in the feed, reaching more and more people.

How Your Pin Can Get Ranked?

As per my experience as a Pinterest creator, getting ranked on the Pinterest feed requires you to follow a strategy.

And I’m going to share the exact strategy with you.

You just have to follow along!

Ready? Let’s go.

1. First Quantity, Then Quality

Quantity and quality both are equally important in their own terms.

In the beginning, aim to create a good volume of pins.

I myself created more than 8,000 pins and I have a long way to go!

Now, why I say quantity matters is that it prepares you to create quality content.

When you do a thing, 10, 50, 100, 500 times, you refine yourself that number of times and that’s what matters the most.

Once you have a substantial amount of pins on your account, it starts building momentum.

This helps to populate your boards and profile, making it more attractive and engaging for visitors and it also positively impacts Pinterest’s algorithm.

Remember, the goal is not to sacrifice quality entirely during the quantity phase, but rather to strike a balance.

2. Stay Tuned for Upcoming Events

Pins related to current events or upcoming occasions are more likely to catch the attention of users who are actively searching or exploring content related to those themes.

Also, if you have something to offer related to that special period, then your profile will automatically be discovered by the users.

Plan your pinning strategy in such a way that you can provide fresh and relevant content.

You can use Notion to plan your content.

It’s an amazing tool. I use it actively in my workflow, especially for managing the blogs.

To stay ahead of the curve and find what’s the next big hit, you can also use Google Trends.

3. The 1 Month Timeframe Tactic

This is one of my most favorite tactics!

It involves uploading content related to an upcoming event or festival at least one month in advance.

Uploading content a month prior allows the platform to index and potentially promote your pins in relevant searches and feeds leading up to the event.

Your pins have a longer timeframe to accumulate saves, clicks, and shares, increasing their visibility on Pinterest.

This extended exposure can attract a larger audience interested in the upcoming event.

Bonus Hack: Include calls to actions in your pins to increase the chances of engagement!

4. Keywords Matter!

How can we forget keywords?

Without using relevant keywords, you won’t be able to get desired results.

To find relevant keywords, you can use:

  • Pinterest Search bar

  • Related searches on Pinterest

  • Pinterest Trends

5. Be a Smart Pinner

Pinning is actually time-consuming! (Initially, but once you become habitual it isn’t a big deal😊)

We have to be a smart pinner, if we wish to put out more content and then apparently getting ranked in the Pinterest feed.

Now, the question is — How do we do that?

The answer is pretty simple — Think Smart, Act Smarter.

I personally use a technique that saves me a lot of time and this method is called — batch content method.

The batch content method is a common and effective approach in content creation and can be applied to various platforms, including Pinterest.

This method involves creating and preparing a batch of content in advance and then scheduling or releasing it over a specified period.

For example, when I create mockups for my Etsy store, I also create mockups for my Pinterest account.

This way I create content for two platforms WITHOUT spending too much time.

By the way, if you want to open an Etsy store, you can grab your first 40 listings FREE.

The next step of creation is — Uploading the content.

To upload or post your content on Pinterest, you have two options —

either post your pins manually or use an external uploader such as Tailwind.

Whatever suits you, do that.

6. Upgrade your Toolkit with Time

Toolkits are the real deal!

And you have to have a proper toolkit.

If you’re just beginning out you can use these FREE tools.

As your Pinterest presence grows and you become more invested in optimizing your strategy, consider transitioning to paid tools for enhanced features and capabilities like Canva ProKittl, etc.

This gradual approach allows you to optimize your resources and maximize the effectiveness of your Pinterest marketing efforts.

That’s it peeps!

I hope you’ve found this trick worth trying! Let me know your thoughts about this.

Happy Pinning.
