Come Celebrate the Passover Exodus with Moses Rabeinu and Me!

Back in the day, when there were only 3 television stations + PBS, my sister, brother and I watched 3 movies every year without fail. They were The Wizard of Oz, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Cecile B. DeMille’s stylized 1956 biblical feature, The Ten Commandments.

You can imagine how much of an impact The Ten Commandments made since it outlasted the other two as I grew up and learned it was actually based on true events. That’s pretty amazing considering all the fairy tales a kid has to overcome. What? No tooth fairy? No Santa Claus? No Easter Bunny? But a guy split the Red Sea and took over 600,000 people out of slavery and introduced them to a living GOD?

Are you waiting for the other shoe to drop off? Don’t. It won’t. This one lasts. Thank God!

I grew up watching the vintage 1956 version of The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston. The earliest version of The Ten Commandments Movie is from 1923 also directed by Cecile B. DeMille But I kind of like Steven Spielberg's The Prince of Egypt animated version. Those lucky kids.

I just think the characters look more like the people who came out of the Middle East and North Africa. Although animated, it’s still seems more authentic than the Hollywood version. But that's probably just the eight year old me talking.

I’m including the trailer for all three versions for your consideration. Sometimes you get lucky and it streams free with ads on YouTube. Otherwise, you can buy or rent it. Tell us what version you prefer. We don’t get any kickbacks.

But it’s a great way to have a clean family movie night with your children. Whether you watch it during Pesach/Passover or any other time of the year. The message sustains.

God did it! That's worth talking about.
