The Zohar is also called the Book of Radiance or Book of Splendor. It explains life and our existence here on earth, before we came, and eternity. Perhaps that is why some call it the Book of Enlightenment.
The Zohar should not be read like an ordinary book, because it is not. I highly recommend you read the Torah (Tanakh/Old Testament Holy Bible) in its entirety. Like the Torah, the Zohar and all other mystical Jewish books should be read a little at a time. Your soul gets more out of the reading than you head.
However, it is good to have a general understanding of a few spiritual concepts. We've included a life enriching introduction in this blog. It will help to learn a few concepts such as the Tree of Life, the Torah, and Kabbalah before delving into the Zohar.

Like any meal (spiritual or physical), it takes time to digest. Take your time. Even if it takes you a lifetime to read The Zohar in its entirety, that’s okay. In fact, that will likely be the case for some if not many.
I am including a site that has the Zohar in English and Hebrew. In my humble opinion, you should always read the ancient text in your preferred language alongside the original Aramaic (ancient form of Hebrew) text. Be sure the original Aramaic or Hebrew text is included therein. That’s very important. Try to obtain your Zohar translations in your language from trusted sources for accuracy.

It’s worth investing in the purchase of the complete Zohar volumes 1-23 hardcover edition. It’s great to read on Shabbat as a couple, family, individually and/or ponder in group discussion amongst friends.
