Have you ever seen a house being power washed? You should. It’s a firm steady intentional removal of seasons, years, sometimes centuries of debris from even the tightest corners. That’s Yom Kippurim (a.k.a The Day of Atonement).
You may be asking yourself why Yom Kippurim and not Yom Kippur? Because Yom Kippurim is an opportunity to approach the spiritual throne of the Most High with grace and mercy to humbly repent not just for all your own sins but also the sins of your parents, grandparents and ancestors connected to you (in the spirit.)
Yom Kippurim because it’s the Purim of the autumn season of sorts. Like Purim, there is more than meets the eye and there is even a solemn fast to cleanse the body and soul.
“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Joel 2:12
You may not understand or see all the parts, but they are there. They are propelling you forward or hindering you perhaps causing stagnation in ways you can not consciously understand.
They are old, new and multi-generational covenants and commitments yet unfulfilled for good or for evil. It is your opportunity to turn them all into good. Yes, you have that power.
The power is in the now. The present is the only time you can change anything.
Let go of the past. It's over. Regrets cause depression.
Don't spend your life waiting for tomorrow. It causes anxiety. The only place you can change anything is in the present.
You are not powerless. You are powerful. You always have been but especially during Yom Kippurim.
It is not just a holiday for Jews. Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashana, Chanukah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot are high holidays for all humanity. They have true meaning. They connect you to your divine self which is your own personal portal to the Creator.
In your heart, you know that Halloween, Easter and Christmas are childish pagan illusions. They bring confusion and instability to the soul.
You will recall the story of Adam and Eve when God asked them, “Where are you?”. God was not lost. They were.
God was asking them to stop and consider where they went astray. Perhaps they would rethink their ways.
Instead, they tried to cover up their error and deepened their transgression. Their nakedness was that they were no longer covered by GOD. Their soul's light was dim. They sought their own way.
They even sought the advice of one who was already in a state of rebellion against GOD. You know what I mean. It’s seeking the advice of immature godless friends who don’t ignite your conscious or hold you accountable instead of an omniscient loving and merciful GOD who can get on back on the right path.
“Break up your un-plowed ground and do not sow among thorns.4 Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, circumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done—burn with no one to quench it. Jeremiah 4:3-4
They offer no foundation on which you, your children, or generations to come can stand or build. That is the fate of the ignorant and disillusioned.
But not you. You are wiser than that.
Welcome back to the path of life.
You are here. You are reading this blog post. You found it, or better yet, it found you. Welcome back to the path of life.
Yom Kippurim’s Purpose: 1) Repent of your sins and all your ancestors. 2) Return to the living GOD as your Source. It’s also known as the Tree (path) of Life.
During Yom Kippurim, people have two festive meals the day before. Then the eve of Yom Kippur participants begin a fast for 26 hours. Reflect on your ways. Decide and commit to doing better. (See chabad.org for additional details on how to celebrate this holiday)
Forgive and seek forgiveness. Even if the other person is no longer alive, repent in your heart. Forgive them too. It releases you to a new beginning even if the other does not or can not forgive you.
It helps some people to write down what they want to release. It gives them clarity. Then, write a new plan for the next year, five years decade - life. Review this regularly especially the following year. Be open to GOD's guidance and inspiration.
Do a personal plan. Do a family plan. Don't limit yourself or GOD. Be sure to include GOD in this plan.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deuteronomy 30:19
Your path is not my path. Your friends’ path is not yours either.
You must seek your divine purpose. Fulfill that which you came here to do. Don't know it? Seek it in prayer. Wait patiently. It's likely something you are already doing or have long desired to do. And yes, eventually, all who choose life end up united on the same path….. home (The Tree of Life).
It is a path that is not found on the outside. One must go within.
And then, eventually, when no one is can for see, the exterior circumstances of your life begin to mysteriously change. Your life begins to reflect the Supernal Garden of Eden. You discover unshakeable peace. The way (intuitively) just appears for you. Who can know the mysterious ways of the Supernal Creator of all that is, was and shall be?

Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:13
