Ever had a goal or intention, yet it seemed like there was one interruption after another? Did you second guess the goal or did you wisely interpret the need for introspection. There is a time to rest, restore, refocus, and even re-evaluate.
You don't need to spend lots of money to go on an expensive luxury retreat. You can follow the divine laws and rest every Shabbat (Friday evening through Saturday evening). Turn off the tv, internet, and smartphone.
Get quiet. Pray. Rest. Read. Spend quality time with spouse and family. Go for a quiet walk. Hear nature. Get balanced.
The Italians call it "Il dolce far niente". In French, it's doux pour ne rien faire. That's right. It's the sweet art of doing nothing.
Throw your concerns aside and get complete rest. Fill your heart with gratitude. I mean FILL your heart with gratitude until it overflows. Make it a habit. Just be!
The dreams will come. The vision will be restored. Don't seek it. Let it re-emerge in your heart.
You may be surprised to discover that the conflicts or obstacles you've been experiencing are not actually outside of you. Often times, the obstacle is caused by an inner conflict. What you are doing may not be in alignment with where you are supposed to (destined) to be. Why aren't you doing that thing? Fear?
There can only be fear if there is no God in the plan. You are only the co-pilot. When God gives you your purpose, you also get the will to do and the faith to do it. That's just between you and God. God is the true pilot. The purpose in your heart is God talking. The desire is to be fulfilled through you.
After some reflection, you may realize that the enemy you are “enslaved” to is an old habit that you haven’t yet released. Are you trying to take a bad relationship or addiction into a new chapter in your life. The Laws of the Universe would tell you otherwise.
When it’s time to move forward, you often have to release old habits and ways. Perhaps you have allowed ties to certain habits. places, people/relationships to hinder your own personal growth and development.
Ironically, many people do not discover the enemy (or thought) within until they look outside to help another. We are not to look without to blame others. We are to step outside of our own narcissism to assist another. You will inevitably gain a better perspective of our own situation.
If altruism (helping others without thinking of what you get in return) doesn’t come to you naturally, God will often give you the privilege of raising a child or children. They must come first. You must cater to their needs. That is also one of the highest callings. It's too bad society's priorities are out of place.
When you come to the end of yourself, you discover a world without limits. Take care of your needs in a healthy way. Seek God for help/guidance for everything you do. Look for ways to be a blessing unto others. Maintain your own goal(s) intentions or replace them for higher God given goals (purpose).
You will be surprised at how much you gain when you give to others. But never neglect yourself (your own needs).
Life is cyclical. Give others what you need and it will be given unto you. (See Book of Job). That’s life. That’s the true path to joy and freedom.
Your entire life should be one of purpose of which was assigned to you at birth. Any compromise or comparison to others makes a person feel empty (unfulfilled). If you excel at being better than someone else fulfilling his/her purpose, you have failed.
You were not created to be an imitation. You’re an original. Excel at being you.
Regardless of the criticism or level of difficulty, your life is a customized journey with God. Stay your course. Seek God’s guidance. How can another know the Voice (Holy Spirit) spoken in your heart?
Wait for that sill calm quiet Voice within. Listen. Trust it.
If you take steps every day, every month, every year to fulfill your own God given goal(s)/purpose, you can not fail. Excel at being the best version of you. That brings joy. That being shalom (inner peace).
That is your personal highway to freedom and happiness. Who can know it but you and Almighty God?
We hope all will celebrate Shavuot (the day Moses drew down the divine laws to the Israelites). Although you can’t get through (ascend) the 50 gates overnight, you will get such a blessing and merit when you do stay up overnight reading and discussing Torah.
Learn God’s Laws. Never retire from contributing to life, family, and/or community in some way.
Stay connected to the Most High. That’s true and lasting freedom.
Shalom. Shalom.
