About Us - Our Story and Vision

Social Work Solutions Plus and Mayday Domestic Abuse Services were founded to meet a clear need: for tools that reflect the complex, often messy realities of working with children and families affected by trauma, abuse, and conflict.

Our work began with a frontline practitioner who wanted to turn experience into action — developing simple, practical tools to support social workers, safeguarding leads, and family support teams. What started as one person’s effort has since grown into a wider collaboration between professionals, survivors, and families who share the same goal: to make meaningful, trauma-aware practice easier to deliver.

Our materials are developed by a team that includes:

Independent social workers with direct experience in assessment, intervention, and safeguarding

Domestic abuse specialists, including IDVAs and trainers

Parents and survivors who bring expertise through lived experience

Young people who help shape child-centred approaches

Professionals across law, health, and education who support children and families in multi-agency systems

Together, we create resources that are clear, adaptable, and grounded in ethical, strengths-based practice. Everything we produce is informed by lived experience, reflective supervision, and real-world service delivery — not just policy or theory.

We believe the right tool, used at the right time, can reduce harm, build confidence, and support better outcomes — for practitioners, and for the children and families they work with.
