Thanks for choosing to read about Trolson and Merv.
The inspiration to write this book came during a walk by the river in my local town. I spotted a shopping trolley half -submerged in the water and my imagination went wild. How did he end up there? Was it something sinister? Had he been abandoned? Pushed? Or had he somehow ended up there of his own accord?
From this single moment, I felt compelled to explore the idea and the story began to bloom.
Of course, every trolley needs a companion - and that's when Merv arrived. Kind hearted, quietly capable and with a love of Op Shop and helping out, he was the perfect match.
After that, the adventures started to unfold almost on their own.
I have been asked by many whether I will be producing a print version. My answer - for now - is no.
Having spent a lot of time in Op Shops and, currently volunteering at one, I see firsthand how many books are donated. If a book has scribbles in it or the cover is torn, it's often thrown away because no-one wants to buy a damaged copy. That saddens me.
So at this stage, I've chosen to release a PDF version instead. If a reader would like a printed copy, the're welcome to print it themselves.
