God Wants Us to Draw Near to Him
God is patient with us, loving, and kind. But more than anything, He yearns to be connected to us. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection instituted the New Covenant established by the blood Jesus shed at Calvary. This is proof that God loves us more than anything! The Bible tells us to seek the Lord while He may be found, call on Him while He is near. See Isaiah 55:6. This is further evidence that God wants a relationship with us, a pure, holy loving covenant that will last into eternity.
“…love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37 ESV
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

How Do We Prepare for 2025?
1. Listen for God’s Voice. There are several ways God can speak to us. For Examples: a. Through worship, b. Prayer, c. A poem, d. Prophetic utterance coming from a person, e. A Dream or vision, and other ways. However, the main way God speaks to us is through His Word.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16, 17 NIV
The words “All Scripture” denote every passage of Scripture is God’s Word. The whole Bible is God-inspired and therefore divinely given to us from God. Although He used human beings to write down what was supernaturally given to them, the Word is from God. The main key to all of this is, no matter how He chooses speak, it’s important that we take time to listen and whenever possible, write down or record what God is saying. That way we can take time for further reflection, and to pray for direction on how to respond to God so we can obey His voice and yield to His precious Holy Spirit.
"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." Galatians 5:16
“…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. I John 5:7 NIV
2. Study the Word. Studying the Bible is essential for our spiritual growth. And for 2025, we will definitely need God’s Word in order to have the Word activating the inner witness in us to adequately navigate life’s ups and downs.
As you read the Bible, pray, and worship, ask God questions. Write down anything the Holy Spirit puts in your spirit.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15 KJV
Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:13, 14 NIV
3. Be Obedient. Do whatever God tells you to do. Whether something big or small, follow the leading and promptings of the Holy Spirit. How do we obey God? What does it mean to be obedient? There are possibly hundreds, if not thousands of ways, to obey God. For example, you could start by meditating and absorbing the truths Jesus left for us in the parables. See Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Or you could study the Ten Commandments in Exodus the 20th Chapter. Below are four ways we can live a lifestyle of obeying God. This is not an extensive list, but it’s a good starting point.
A. Start things you’ve been putting off. Make a list of the things God has been leading you to do. Pray and ask for God’s help. Get direction from Him on how to get started. If you don’t hear anything, do some research and step out in faith.
B. Build a schedule for prayer and studying the Word. Instead of allowing your time with God to be random or whenever you get to it, have a special time designated for your devotions, prayer and the Bible.
C. Be Kind. The Bible says, love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not easily angered, believes the best, is longsuffering. See I Corinthians 12:3 to 8.
D. Listen more than talk. The Bible tells us to be quick to hear and slow to speak. See James 1:19, Proverbs, 17:27, and Proverbs 18:13. Listening shows compassion, unselfishness, and love. When we’re in God’s presence, we need to listen and not just talk about all the things we need and want. Likewise, we need to listen to our family and friends when we’re in conversation with them to show we care. It’s a way to show that we truly love our neighbors as ourselves.
God is compassionate, caring, and loves us. More than anything, though, He longs to be among us, the epitome of His creation. He sent Jesus to demonstrate how much He cares for us. Throughout the Word, God admonishes us to draw close to Him. This is more proof that God desires a connection with us—a divine, pure fellowship that will endure forever.
Receive Jesus as Savior
If you haven’t received Jesus yet as your personal Savior, pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life. Receive Him into your heart today. Jesus loves you and He’s waiting to receive you into the family of God.
Blessings,
Tanda
