Introduction.
The Bible is a source of comfort, wisdom, and instruction. We run to the Word whether we're feeling happy or challenged. We love the Holy Scriptures because they are the embodiment of Jesus Christ and contain God's will and direction for our lives. It also reveals the will of God for the world. In this Blog, we're focusing on Psalm 46, verses 4 and 5; and verses 10 and 11. The word this time is: "God is helping us." I hope this blesses you as much as it did me.
God is With Us.
Jesus said He would never leave us or forsake us. That's a reassuring promise because it means that His presence will always be with us. In Psalm 46:4 and 5, the Psalmist has captured the essence of God's intention toward us. God wants us to know that He is with us, too.
Let's look at Psalm 46:4
"There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most high." Psalm 46:4
Here's the Breakdown for Psalm 46:4:
- Verse 4 starts out by stating, "there is a river." Water represents sustenance, plenty, cleansing, refreshing, etc. These streams suggest that this body of water resides in heaven. They must dwell in the Kingdom because they're making the city of God glad. God is the most high and He lives in the heavenlies.
- "Make glad the city of God, the holy place," from Psalm 46:4b, denotes God's care for us, meeting our needs, peace, and protection.
- The river symbolizes God's life flowing blessings and divine presence. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty and freedom, which means blessings.
Let's Review Psalm 46:5.
"God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved, God shall help her, and that right early." Psalm 46:5.
Here's the Breakdown for Psalm 46:5:
- The word "moved" means she will not fall. The word "she" represents us because we're the seed of Abraham, and that makes us "spiritual Israel."
- God will not allow His people to be utterly cast down. He will uphold us. His hand upon our lives and He also holds us in the palm of His hands!
- God is going to help us signifies God's power to deliver us and give us the victory. Although God might seem delayed at times, it's always the right time when He shows up.
