Proof Jesus is God.

The Bible is extremely clear about Jesus being the Son of God. Jesus is the second person in the Godhead. There is no denying that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Below is significant proof that Jesus is not just a teacher, prophet, and healer. According to the Scriptures, Jesus is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us; He is God. See John 1:14.

The Word is Irrefutable Truth.

Jesus left heaven, was born of a virgin, performed miracles never done before He came to earth, gave sight to the blind, turned water into wine, walked on water, as the sinless lamb, Jesus gave His life on the cross to redeem us from sin. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus was seen, before going back to heaven, by Mary Magdalene and other women. See Matthew 28:1 to 10, Luke 24:10, and John 20:11 to 18. He felt the pain of death because Jesus is totally God, and simultaneously totally man. That’s why He is referred to in the Bible as the Son of God and also as the Son of man. These truths are the foundation of our Christian faith. See Isaiah 53:5 to 8.

By 2 or 3 Witnesses Truth is Proven.

The Bible says, let every word be established by two or three witnesses. Today’s blog has over ten Bible verses provided throughout. From the start of this article to the end, there is proof that Jesus is God with some verses that are cross references from both the Old and New Testaments which agree.

It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. John 8:17 KJV

This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. II Corinthians 13:1 KJV

The Old and New Testaments Agree.

Here are Scriptures from both the Old Testament and the New Testament which are cross-reference verses which show the foretelling of Jesus as God and the Son of God.

Proof Number 1

Old Testament:

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. Psalm 40:6 to 8 KJV

New Testament:

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:5 to 10 KJV

Proof Number 2

Old Testament:

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 KJV

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 9:6 to 7 KJV

New Testament:

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23 KJV

Proof Number 3

Old Testament:

23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; Isaiah 44:23 to 25 KJV

New Testament:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Colossians 1:14 to 18 KJV

Proof Number 4

Old Testament:

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:1 to 3 KJV

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 KJV  Note: Bold and underline added for clarity.

Proof Number 5

New Testament:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1 to 5 KJV

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18 KJV

Old Testament:

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1: 1 to 4 KJV  Note: Bold and underline added for clarity.

There you have it - indisputable proof from the Holy Bible that Jesus is God! In the near or distant future, you may come across people who don’t believe that Jesus is the Christ, nor do they believe that He is God. If that opportunity arises, please feel comfortable using the Scriptures in this article to substantiate the fact that Jesus is truly the Son of God, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. See John 1:14.

Blessings to you.
