Summer Camp an American idea, encouraged children to spend days learning or building social skills, in outdoor environments.
Now we have many evolved and diversified variations based on the original concept...but at the heart of them all, they should be fun and add value to a child's summer holiday!
Online Summer Schools are also great for ESL learners; games, reading activities, and speaking activities.
Resources can also support nature walk activities, campfire fun, and classroom activities.
Outings are great when you have the time, and not all parents have the luxury of staying at home....so, how can we add a bit of summer camp fun to the kid's Summer activity plan?
I like to use printables, video resources, stories, and simple activities that can be downloaded and used between more outdoorsy stuff when needed.
A simple print-and-play match game can make a great morning activity, where kids can make their cards before they play the match game.
Or how about some sneaky literacy handouts, that challenge youngsters to use their writing skills to create a story or some funny or imaginative sentences?
Use rewards charts and reward good work or chores, be creative in what a chore could be....maybe making the next days snacks or finding everyone's sun hats for outings can be added to the list.
Children can also use online classes to add to their summer activities. Why not book into a class and join other learners for organized online activities...try a new skill, join a creative writing workshop, or learn about dinosaurs!
So, have a great Summer, and let me know what new activities you tried out...have a great holiday!
