Immune Boosting Fire Cider

If this is your first time making fire cider, welcome!

It was my first time too, but I'm now on my second batch and realized this was the easiest thing ever. Anyone can do it.

In a large jar combine:

-1/2 grapefruit, sliced

-1 orange, sliced

-2 small lemons, sliced

-1/2 onion, sliced

-6 cloves garlic, sliced

-2 jalapeƱos, sliced

-2 sprigs fresh thyme

-2 sprigs fresh rosemary

-2 small turmeric roots, peeled & sliced

-1 small ginger root, peeled & sliced

-1 T black peppercorns

-1 tsp red chili flakes

-2 cinnamon sticks

Once packed tightly into the jar, pour over organic apple cider vinegar until completely covered. I added a glass weight on top to ensure everything stayed submerged. Cover with a lid and store in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks or longer!

Once ready, strain the liquid and squeeze out every drop into a big bowl. Add raw organic honey and whisk in. I did about 25% honey: 75% fire cider but you can do it to your own taste.

Pour into a bottle and store in the fridge! It should last up to 6 weeks (likely way longer) in the fridge but keep an eye out for signs of spoilage.

Note: a traditional ingredient in fire cider is horseradish but I personally omit it because I don't like the taste and can't find it in the store anyway. You can also adjust this recipe however you wish! Omit grapefruit, add lime, more onion or garlic, different spicy peppers, ground turmeric instead of fresh, different herbs, etc!

Also, no need to make it pretty (I just like it that way), you can simply chop everything small so it fits better and it will work all the same.

This is a great beginner recipe to have in your herbalist cabinet. Make some now so you'll have it when you need it most!
