Woke Up This Morning and Everything Clicked
Hello Everyone,
Some mornings you wake up and your brain is just... on. Not the fake kind of on where you've had two cups of coffee and you're pretending. The real kind. Where you lay there for a second before you even reach for your phone and you already know — today is going to be different.
That was this morning for me.
I woke up with this clarity about AI that I don't think I've had before. Not just what I wanted to do with it, but how — and more importantly, why. And I need to share this with you because I think some of you are sitting in the same confusion I've been in, and I don't want that for you anymore.
Here's what hit me hard this morning: AI is not just for the people who already have everything.
You hear me? It is not just for the rich. It is not just for the educated. It is not just for the person who's been on a computer since they were twelve, who knows all the jargon, who can talk in acronyms for an hour and a half and actually understand what they're saying. It is not out of your reach. It is not out of my reach. And I am done letting anybody — including myself — believe that it is.
For this past year that I've really thrown myself into AI, I kept circling back to one question: why is everybody so scared of it? Why does my neighbor shut down when I bring it up? Why do women in my community roll their eyes? Why does the word "AI" feel like it belongs to somebody else?
I sat with that. Yeah, fear of the unknown is real — that's just how we're wired as humans, a built-in safety mechanism. But it's deeper than that for a lot of us. If you're a minority, if you're a woman, if you've spent your life in the working class, you have been told — directly and indirectly — what is possible for you. You have been put in a box. Told what you can accomplish, what is out of your reach, what is never going to happen for you. And after enough years of that, you stop reaching. The box becomes your world.
AI blows the lid off that box.
It puts you in the same playing field as the person who went to an Ivy League school. The person who inherited money. The person who had every opportunity handed to them from the jump. That doesn't mean it's automatic — you still have to show up, you still have to be intentional — but for the first time, the gap is closable. That matters. That matters a lot to people like us.
Okay, story time.
This morning I was standing at my door talking to some Jehovah's Witnesses. Different beliefs than mine — I'll say that up front. But I'll also say this: I respect anyone who believes in something. I genuinely do. Because hope? Hope is the only thing that has carried me through the hard times. Through the times we had six kids and income under $30k. Through the times Justin and I took our last couple hundred dollars and tried to make something happen just to keep the lights on. Through all of it. Something in us kept saying we're going to make it through. And we did. Every single time, we made it through.
So whatever gives you that — your faith, your family, your community — hold on to it. Don't let anybody talk you out of it. Because that Why, that thing you're holding onto? That's actually your starting point. That's where AI comes in.
Here's what I mean. AI is a tool, and like any tool, it's only as useful as what you're building. If you don't know what you're building, you're just pressing buttons. But when you know your why — when you can say "I want more time with my kids" or "I want to build something from my living room" or "I want to go deeper in my faith" or "I need to stop working two jobs just to stay broke" — suddenly AI has a job to do. Now you're using it with intention.
That's reverse engineering. You start with the end. You start with the life you actually want. And then you work backward — what would have to be true for that to happen? What's one step I can take today? What can AI help me do faster so I can get there with less friction and less wasted time?
You could have $10 to your name right now. I'm serious. And you could learn how to turn that $10 into $100, into $1,000, into $10,000. Not because AI is magic. Because AI helps you think clearer, move faster, and stop spending energy on things you don't have to do manually anymore. It gives you back time. And time, when you use it right, turns into money.
But it starts with a choice. You have to choose to be open. You have to choose to try. And you have to be intentional — not by feeling, but by choice — about what you're trying to build.
I don't care if you want to use AI to deepen your Bible study. I don't care if you want to use it to make dinner easier, to finally get your finances straight, to start the business you've been putting off for three years because life kept getting in the way. All of it counts. All of it matters. The why is yours — I'm just trying to make sure you know that AI can help you get there.
One baby step at a time. That's all it takes.
