The Day I Almost Quit… But Didn’t

The Story

There was a day, one very ordinary day, when I was ready to give up.

Not just slow down. Do not just take a break.

I was done.

Done with trying so hard.

Done with pushing through with nothing to show.

Done with praying and waiting, hoping and still not seeing.

The weight of discouragement felt heavier than hope.

It was in that moment, sitting in the middle of half-finished goals and full-blown self-doubt, that I whispered,

“Lord, I can’t do this anymore.”

And I meant it.

But here’s what happened next…

I didn’t get a miracle. I didn’t suddenly feel better.

Instead, I got a gentle nudge. A memory. A moment. A truth:

“You don’t have to feel strong to be strong.

You have to take one more step.”

So I took it. One small, shaky step forward.

And then another.

And eventually, without even realising it, I was no longer stuck. I was growing again.

The Lesson:

Sometimes, growth doesn’t look like big wins.

It looks like not quitting when everything in you says to.

It looks like resting, praying, journaling, or breathing, but refusing to surrender your future to your feelings.

Quitting is easy.

Grit is choosing to rise, even when you don’t feel ready.

Reflection Questions:

  • Have you had a moment when you were close to giving up?
  • What helped you keep going?
  • How can you encourage someone else going through a tough season?
