To be well-prepared for an OT interview focus on understanding the role, researching the employer, and practice common interview questions.
Highlight your passion for OT, relevant experiences, and how you’ll contribute to their organization.
Interviewing for your 1st (or even 5th) OT job can be stressful, so you want to make sure that you feel fully prepared for it.
Before your initial interview have a list of questions prepared to ask to find the best possible OT position suited for you.
Questions to ask during an OT interview:
- What does a typical day or week look like for an OT in this role?
- What is the typical caseload seen in this setting?
- What are the productivity expectations and how are they measured?
- Are there opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare professionals?
- Does the company offer a student loan forgiveness or repayment program?
- What are the most common assessments used?
- What kind of mentorship and support is available for new hire/new graduates?
- Are there opportunities offered for CEUs? Does the company have a budget for CEUs?
- How much PTO do they offer? Mental health days? Sick days?
- Are there opportunities for specialized training or certifications?
