ILAC is not exclusively an entity; it’s an initiative. A drive. ILAC is a play on my name, spelled backward, and carries a double meaning as an acronym: Images Live Amid Creation.
When starting, I felt pushback from my own inner dialogue, questioning whether my initiative would be too complicated to execute. Yet, I knew that simplifying everything wouldn’t encompass all my passions, interests, and expertise. ILAC was established in the summer of 2024, and as 2025 approaches, I want to purposefully deconstruct the rules and standards of what a business looks like. As a 2024 graduate, I continue to be a student every day, applying the extensive knowledge I’ve gained both inside and outside the classroom.
My journey began in 2020, when I started creatively editing videos. Through that experience, I gained invaluable skills and a hunger to take my craft further. In 2022, I became a Marketing Assistant during my studies at the University of North Carolina Greensboro in the Housing and Residence Life department. I learned so much about not only digital marketing but also planning, recording, editing, and collaborating with my colleagues to create educational, fun, and refreshing content to engage the student body. As summer break approached, it seemed like the marketing bug had bitten me. I became my mom’s campaign manager, helping with her real estate campaign. She had trouble navigating Canva and needed guidance on how to express her goals as a potential president of NC REALTORS® via her social media platforms. Her community was impressed by her brand identity and online presence. The year 2023 sparked my interest in graphic design and expanded my creative skill set.
During my undergraduate studies in Media Studies, I was taught professional practices in videography—an art I’ve loved since I was little. I’ve always dreamed of directing a movie, but as my passion grew and matured, I realized how much I loved editing just as much. The skills I taught myself during quarantine blossomed beautiful. It became clear that my graphic design skills and hands-on marketing experience shouldn’t go to waste either. That’s why ILAC is more than just one product or one service. It’s an initiative designed to give creatives and business owners the confidence to express their brand and visual identity.
Through comprehensive video editing, graphic design, motion design, and social media marketing, ILAC functions as a one-stop media studio. But the initiative doesn’t stop at services—it’s about equipping clients with products. ILAC aims to teach valuable knowledge for any media endeavor they wish to pursue.
As I publish this first blog post, I plan to document my growth as a business—or, as I like to call it, initiative—owner. I also aim to shed light on the practices ILAC engages in within the media industry, sharing tips, insights, and educated takes.
This is just the beginning.
