I know that I am late to the game when it comes to this, but I decided to finally try the Cirkul bottle. I could not justify buying the bottle and two cartridges for 20 bucks!
The hype about saving plastic and all that just doesn't make sense. Each cartridge is supposed to save six 20-oz flavored water bottles. In my opinion, there is more plastic in one cartridge than in a dozen bottles of water.
My daughter loves her Cirkul cup, and I found her drinking a lot more water when she uses her cup. So, that is why I decided to try it.
After getting it home from the store, I washed it, added water, and put in the blueberry/grape cartridge. Took a big sip... I GOT NOTHING BUT FLAVORING! It was awful!
I was sucking so hard on the mouthpiece, I thought I was going to pull it right off the bottle!!
So, I went to Reddit for the answer. You can not screw the cartridge down tightly. Just finger-tight like canning jars. If there is a vacuum, then you need to loosen it a little... Then, the magic happens, and it works so well! I must say I'm very pleased with my purchase!
